The ePlane Company: Gliding Above Urban Congestion with eVTOL Innovation
Live: eplane.ai
$1 trillion global UAM market by 2040, with India’s share at $105.5 billion.
In the bustling cities of the Middle East, where traffic gridlock consumes hours daily and logistics costs soar, urban mobility demands a bold reimagining.
The UAE, with its Vision 2031 and Smart Mobility Strategy, is leading the charge toward futuristic, sustainable transport solutions. Enter Dicode Technologies, a catalyst for global innovation in the region, partnering with The ePlane Company, India’s pioneering eVTOL developer.
Founded by IIT Madras professor Satya Chakravarthy, ePlane is revolutionizing Urban Air Mobility (UAM) with compact, safe, and zero-emission aircraft designed for air taxis, ambulances, and cargo.
This collaboration is set to transform how people, patients, and goods move, aligning with the UAE’s ambitions for smart cities and net-zero goals.

The Breakthrough Technology
The ePlane Company’s e200X is a game-changer in the eVTOL space, leveraging a patented Synergistic Lift design that delivers unmatched efficiency, safety, and compactness.
Unlike traditional eVTOLs, the e200X uses six vertical and four horizontal motors with no tilting mechanisms, ensuring redundancy and a one-in-a-billion failure rate. Its compact footprint (8m x 10m) fits within half a basketball court, enabling landings on existing infrastructure like rooftops, minimizing costly vertiport modifications.
Key features include:
Versatility: Three models—Air Taxi (1 pilot + 2 passengers, 110 km range, 175 kmph), Air Ambulance (patient + paramedic + pilot), and Air Cargo (200 kg payload)—cater to urban, rural, and defense needs.
Safety First: Seven levels of redundancy, including distributed electric propulsion, battery backups, gliding capabilities, ballistic parachutes, and crash-safe designs (up to 16g loading).
Efficiency: Three short trips (10-15 km) per battery charge maximize ride density, boosting profitability. Proprietary AI-powered collision detection enhances safety.
Innovation Moat: Synergistic Lift patent granted in seven jurisdictions, with 40+ IPs in the pipeline, plus in-house components like landing gear, propellers, and battery packs with integrated cooling.
Certification Edge: India’s first aviation startup with Design Organization Approval (DOA) for 2-19 seater aircraft, with DGCA Type Certification on track for Q1 2027.
Backed by a 250-year-strong aviation and EV expert team and best-in-class suppliers (e.g., for avionics, carbon composites, and digital infrastructure), ePlane’s technology is poised to disrupt a $1 trillion global UAM market by 2040, with India’s share at $105.5 billion.

Our Strategic Partnership Journey

Dicode’s partnership with ePlane, initiated in mid-2025, leverages ePlane’s proven track record—flight testing under $20 million and DGCA certification for its Atva-1 cargo drone—to bring eVTOL solutions to the UAE. Recognizing the region’s traffic woes (up to 3 hours daily in congestion) and high logistics costs (47% of quick commerce expenses), Dicode crafted a tailored commercialization strategy aligned with UAE’s smart mobility and sustainability priorities.
Pilot deployments began in Q3 2025 in Dubai, focusing on air taxi and cargo use cases. Dicode’s role included:
Market Adaptation: Customizing e200X for UAE’s urban density and desert conditions, integrating with smart city infrastructure like vertiports and renewable energy grids.
Regulatory Navigation: Collaborating with UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to align with local air traffic regulations, leveraging ePlane’s DGCA certification expertise.
Implementation Phases:
Phase 1 (Q3 2025): Site assessments and prototype testing in Dubai, ensuring compatibility with existing helipads and rooftops.
Phase 2 (Q4 2025): Deployment of e200X Air Taxi and Air Cargo units, with real-time monitoring via ePlane’s proprietary flight control algorithms.
Phase 3 (Ongoing): Scaling pilots to include air ambulance services, targeting emergency evacuations and organ transport in urban and remote areas.
Challenges, such as integrating with UAE’s complex airspace and ensuring battery performance in high heat, were addressed through ePlane’s robust design and Dicode’s local expertise, ensuring seamless operations.
Looking Ahead: Redefining Middle East Skies
With ePlane’s Q1 2027 launch for Air Taxi, Air Ambulance, and Air Cargo models, Dicode is scaling deployments across UAE smart cities, tourism hubs like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and hilly regions for defense and emergency operations. Future plans include integrating eVTOLs with UAE’s autonomous transport networks and expanding to inter-city routes, tapping into a $715 billion US-China-EU market by 2040.
“Our eVTOLs make flying ubiquitous—now, with Dicode, we’re bringing that vision to the Middle East’s skies, where speed and sustainability matter most.” – Satya Chakravarthy, Founder, The ePlane Company.
